I am Dr. Susan Neylan, an Associate Professor in the Department of History, University of Wilfrid Laurier University, in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. My broad research interests are in Canadian Social and Cultural History, the Canadian West, and the History of the Aboriginal Peoples of Canada. More specifically I am engaged in the historical exploration of the forms of colonialism in 19th and 20th century British Columbia as they relate to Native-Missionary/Native-church relations (especially Tsimshian-Missionary relations in BC; please see my book on this topic, The Heavens are Changing, published by McGill-Queen's University Press in 2003). Aside from being an historian and instructor, I also write poetry (when my creativity has not been sapped by manuscript revisions or marking) and obsessively follow science fiction television series.
